Rolls-Royce (LSE: RR., ADR: RYCEY) today announces it has received an order from Air Niugini for four Trent 1000 engines to power its two new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

Rolls-Royce is delighted to welcome Air Niugini to the Trent 1000 family and is happy to support the growth of its long-haul fleet, which will enable the national flag carrier of Papua New Guinea to fly new routes from the Pacific island nation and boost capacity for inbound tourism.

TotalCare is designed to provide operational certainty for customers by transferring time on wing and maintenance cost risk back to Rolls-Royce. This industry-leading premium service offering is supported by data delivered through the Rolls-Royce advanced engine health monitoring system, which helps provide customers with increased operational availability, reliability and efficiency.

Rolls-Royce’s outstanding TotalCare support programme, coupled with proven performance, provides Air Niugini with confidence in the solution. The projected reduction in carbon emissions from the Trent 1000 also supports the Papua New Guinea government’s commitment to global GGE targets.”

The Trent 1000 delivers exceptional fuel efficiency and environmental performance. It has been optimised specifically to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family of aircraft, applying latest technology whilst drawing on the experience of four previous generations of Trent engines.

Since entering into service in 2011 the engine has accumulated 15 million flying hours and has delivered 99.9% fleet dispatch reliability.

The engine is already certified to operate on a 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend and has been proven to be compatible with 100% SAF during a flight test in October 2021.
