Following a detailed design process, this latest evolution of the renowned Trent XWB engine family illustrates our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation that delivers greater customer value. The Trent XWB-84 EP builds on the proven track record of the Trent XWB-84, already celebrated as the world’s most efficient large aero engine in service.

Cutting-edge advances in aerodynamics and engine design allow us to further optimise performance, unleashing a 1% improvement in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions, whilst further advancing our industry-leading reliability and durability.

Extensive testing

Subjected to one of our most extensive engine development, certification and maturity programmes ever, the Trent XWB-84 EP has undergone thousands of hours and cycles of rigorous testing on the ground and in the air.

The engine has been subjected to the harshest conditions, from extreme temperatures to high-cycle operations, pushing the engine its limits. The results not only validate the engine’s performance but also its resilience and robustness, even under the most demanding conditions.

Proven performance

The Trent XWB-84 EP is ready to make a substantial impact for airlines with a range of demonstrated benefits:

Enhanced fuel efficiency: leveraging innovative design and advanced aerodynamics, the engine achieves a 1% improvement in specific fuel consumption, contributing significantly to reduced emissions and operational costs.

 

Sustainable Aviation Fuel Compatibility: the engine can be operated with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blends up to 50% and is ready for 100% SAF, having undergone testing with SAF during development.

Dependable durability: considerable service operation experience of the Trent XWB-84 has been used to improve component durability, translating to longer life, reduced maintenance, and greater availability.
