Heritage Trust – Indianapolis

Indianapolis branch

The Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust – Allison Branch is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history of the Allison Engine Company and Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis (which acquired Allison in 1995). The Allison Branch maintains historic engines, design records and visual media for products that span a wide array of applications from Defense and Civil aircraft, to NASA and military space products, to Marine and Energy products.

The D.B. Newill Exhibition is located on the west side of Indianapolis in the Allison Branch museum annex. The Exhibition includes an extensive collection of power products made by Rolls-Royce and U.S. predecessor Allison Engine Company.

The museum annex archives are maintained and accessible upon request to researchers and collectors. Over 16,000 detailed photographs are maintained in the archive collection.

Our annex hardware display contains roughly 25 historically significant Allison products ranging from early piston engines (such as the Liberty and V1710) to turbojet, turboprop, and turbofan engines (such as the J71, T56 and AE3007). Also displayed are Allison products supporting vehicular, marine and space applications.
