FOD Prevention Services
Rolls-Royce’s Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention system uses the latest digital tools to revolutionize the aerospace industry’s approach to FOD management, empowering airfield operators to make informed operational decisions to reduce the likelihood of future FOD damage incidents.
The service replaces paper-based reporting processes and creates a rich database of information that can be used to optimize FOD prevention activities, track the effectiveness of FOD equipment and policies over time and provide a searchable record of missing tools and materials.
Designed for both civil and military airfields, the system consists of a mobile app connected to an analytics website with the capability to connect additional sensors in the future. The app replaces burdensome, paper-based manual reporting processes by providing an intuitive, digital tool to report debris found on airfields. Key information about the debris are captured in a system designed to support existing FOD prevention activities. Data from the app is uploaded to a secure cloud, where it can be accessed from a dedicated website to generate dashboards, heat maps and customizable reports which track key metrics such as debris concentration by area and items reported against time.
Alongside digital offerings, Rolls-Royce provide dedicated FOD Specialists who help identify the root causes of FOD, train airfield personnel in best practice, advise on policy changes, recommend equipment and manage the operation of the digital FOD prevention system at customer airfields.
Key benefits:
