Engines

Continuity and reliability, with minimum downtime, are key attributes for any commercial operation, and Rolls-Royce medium-speed diesel engines have for more than 60 years been helping fishermen to keep on hauling in catch after catch in the toughest of environments such as the North Sea.

We have consistently pursued a philosophy of high power, low fuel consumption, and simple and reliable operation when developing our family of Bergen engines.  These endow fishing fleets with the optimum combination of high performance, low life-cycle costs, good environmental credentials and reliability.

Our Bergen range is manufactured to strict global quality standards and, while all current engines meet latest IMO Tier II requirements for environmental performance, our gas engines are designed for the future and already meet IMO Tier III standards not due in service until later this decade.

The Rolls-Royce range of Bergen reciprocating engines includes:

  • B33:45 Genset (3,600 – 5,400 kWel)
  • B33:45 propulsion engine (3,600 – 5,400 kW)
  • B series propulsion engines (3,000 - 8,000 kW)
  • B series generating sets (2,793 - 7,760 kWel)
  • C series propulsion engines (1,460 - 3,000 kW)
  • C series generating sets (1,401 – 2,880 kWel)
