Here come the girls! - UK

Brownie Science Investigator Badge

The girls joined a team of 12 STEM Ambassadors to complete 3 activities, which earned them their Brownie Science Investigator Badge.

We have supported this badge since 2012, during which time over 140,000 girls aged between 7 and 10 have completed the badge using the resources we made available to Brownies and their adult leaders.

We also shared this model with the Girlguides of Singapore, who now work with our Seletar colleagues to earn their own Brownie Science Investigator Badge.

Innovate Skills Builder

Girlguiding UK launched a new programme in the previous year, which saw a complete overhaul of the activities girls and young women do with Girlguiding, to ensure they are broad, challenging, relevant and what girls want.

Innovate Skills Builder

Girlguiding UK launched a new programme in the previous year, which saw a complete overhaul of the activities girls and young women do with Girlguiding, to ensure they are broad, challenging, relevant and what girls want.

The Brownie Science Investigator Badge was retired that summer, but we took the opportunity to extend our support to all girls (aged 5-16 years) through the new Innovate Skills Builder.

This is a 6-staged badge that girls can work towards throughout their time with Girlguiding that focuses on innovation, including lots of STEM activities that we helped to create.

We’re working on how we support the older girls, as well as Rainbows & Brownies, so future STEM events for Girlguides will help girls to earn their Innovate Skills Builder badges.
