To support this, we have created our new automated digital design system to introduce unprecedented transformation across our preliminary engineering design process of complex power and propulsion systems.

We design iteratively, constantly striving to deliver a product that is better than before. The automated digital design system provides rapid and robust links between system and sub-system tools, enabling us to progress from design requirements to a design solution faster than ever to provide an improved power and propulsion system design. The traditional approach took several months but automated digital design has reduced iteration time from months to minutes. This allows us to meet design requirements faster and provide our world-class engineers with the capacity to tackle even more challenges. 

Automated Digital Design in Practice

The tool has already brought transformational benefits to the Tempest programme. Using automated design, we have embraced collaboration with our partners through integrating models of the Tempest airframe within the automated digital design system. This ensures seamless integration and maximum performance of the physical products.
