Rolls-Royce wins major framework contract for yacht bridges and engines | Rolls-Royce

Alert

  • Framework agreement with Overmarine includes mtu NautIQ Bridge systems for the first time
  • 64 mtu engines with 12 and 16 cylinders from the 2000 series
  • Overmarine relies on mtu engines in the Mangusta Oceano 52, now with the mtu NautIQ Bridge solution
  • Long-standing partnership: almost all Overmarine yachts are powered by mtu engines
  • Potential for the integrated bridge solution in further Overmarine boat lines

Rolls-Royce Power Systems is expanding its long-standing partnership with Overmarine to include the integration of yacht bridges. The framework agreement runs from 2026 to 2029, including the mtu NautIQ Bridge and 64 mtu Series 2000 engines. In doing so, both companies are continuing their proven collaboration and laying the foundations for further growth through the use of the integrated bridge solution in additional yacht lines.

Yacht builders want one thing above all else: a system that simplifies operations on board. Overmarine has relied on our mtu engines for years – and with our approach of viewing the yacht as a seamless system, we are taking the next step together. Close coordination with the Overmarine teams ensures that propulsion, automation and technical design mesh precisely, making the yachts more efficient and comfortable.”

Our Mangusta Oceano models require propulsion systems that run reliably and fit the vessel perfectly. Rolls-Royce Power Systems has been supplying them to us for years. “With the new framework agreement, control and propulsion are now even more closely integrated – this simplifies construction and enhances comfort for our owners.”

Long-standing partnership with Overmarine

Overmarine has relied on mtu propulsion systems for many years; almost all yachts in the fleet are powered by mtu Series 2000 engines. With the new contract, Rolls-Royce Power Systems is further expanding this partnership and will supply 30 propulsion systems comprising a total of 64 mtu engines of the 12V 2000 and 16V 2000 types, including two systems with four engines.

The integrated mtu NautIQ Bridge solution combines bridge, energy management and propulsion into a single, seamless system.

The framework agreement also marks the introduction of the NautIQ Bridge systems to the Mangusta Oceano 52 yacht range. With the mtu NautIQ Bridge, Rolls-Royce Power Systems offers a fully integrated product for the intuitive control of the entire yacht from a single source, featuring coordinated hardware and software. The integrated solution combines the bridge, energy management and propulsion into a seamless system – with clear benefits for operation, overview and efficiency.

The order strengthens Rolls-Royce Power Systems position in the premium segment and demonstrates the potential for further boat lines. Rolls-Royce Power Systems supports the entire lifecycle of a yacht with service offerings designed to ensure stable operation. These include maintenance packages, support via the global mtu service network, and refit concepts that enable existing yachts to be modernised and operated more efficiently.

"From Bridge to Propeller”: Rolls‑Royce Power Systems views ship operation as a holistic system – from control on the bridge to propulsion in the water.

Holistic marine strategy from bridge to propeller

With its From Bridge to Propeller strategy, Rolls-Royce Power Systems aims to view ship operations as a complete system – from the controls on the bridge to the propulsion in the water. To this end, the company combines its expertise in propulsion systems, energy management and automation into integrated solutions that improve efficiency, safety and cost-effectiveness. For shipyards, this approach offers an additional advantage: they receive a coordinated solution from a single source. This reduces the effort involved in design and integration, minimises interface risks and establishes clear lines of responsibility should any adjustments be required during operation.

The integration of mtu propulsion systems, SmartBridge and automation technologies creates a unified digital environment. It helps shipyards and owners to manage energy flows, reduce emissions and increase uptime – a step towards a more modern and connected shipping industry.
