  • 10-year agreement continues long-standing support for USGC’s National Security Cutter fleet
  • Includes scheduled dockside maintenance and on-demand repairs worldwide

Rolls-Royce Power Systems in the US has been awarded a firm-fixed-price contract from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) to provide dockside scheduled maintenance and emergent repairs for the service’s National Security Cutter fleet. The contract covers 10 vessels powered by mtu Series 1163 engines.

The new 10-year agreement builds on the success of Rolls-Royce’s previous USCG support contract, which has covered maintenance and repairs for the fleet since the first cutter was commissioned in 2008.

This agreement reflects our firm commitment to the U.S. Coast Guard. Rolls-Royce’s around-the-clock technical expertise allows the Coast Guard to focus on their mission while we ensure their engines are always ready to perform. We value the trust they have placed in us to deliver dependable readiness for these vital assets.”

Rolls-Royce will provide maintenance and repair services for the main propulsion diesel engines installed on each 418-foot National Security Cutter. The work includes both scheduled preventive maintenance and responsive repair support.

Rolls-Royce will supply all labor, materials, equipment and technical expertise necessary to complete repairs and return cutters to service. The contract also includes initial and post-repair operational testing, detailed condition reporting and support for both dock and sea trials.

Work will be performed by Rolls-Royce’s Large Engine Service team in Alameda, California; Charleston, South Carolina; Honolulu, Hawaii; and other locations worldwide. This dedicated team provides comprehensive, on-call 24/7 global support for large naval, governmental and mission-critical engines.

To further support the work, Rolls-Royce has expanded its footprint in Alameda, (near Coast Guard Island), has added technicians, and is continuing to invest in specialized tooling to increase the already high level of efficiency and quality of service.
