Rolls-Royce (LSE: RR., ADR: RYCEY) Power Systems division has completed the production of the new mtu Series 2000 G06 engine in China, with the first batch to be delivered to customers soon. This marks a key milestone in the implementation of Rolls-Royce’s localisation strategy in China. The new product is manufactured at MTU Yuchai Power (MYP), a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Chinese engine manufacturer Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co. Ltd (Yuchai Diesel), in its Suzhou facility.
The new mtu Series 2000 G06 engine is designed for mission-critical applications such as main backup power for data centres, industrial parks, power stations, rental and infrastructure, offering high power density, excellent fuel efficiency, and outstanding reliability. The launch of this locally produced model in China will enrich product options for Chinese customers and strengthen Rolls-Royce’s service capabilities in key industries such as power generation.
At the launch ceremony, Rolls-Royce signed agreements with more than ten power generation OEMs. These will cover various applications, including mobile power tracks, power rental, building stand-by, and engineering, procurement and construction (“EPC”) projects. These agreements fully demonstrate Chinese customers’ high recognition of Rolls-Royce Power Systems’ products and services, as well as MYP’s production capabilities.
