Chairman of Rolls-Royce Deutschland takes on additional role

Wednesday, 5 March 2008

Rolls-Royce announced today that Dr. Michael Haidinger, Chairman of Rolls-Royce Deutschland since October 2006, has taken up an additional role within the Group with effect from 1 March 2008.

Dr. Haidinger will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer of Corporate & Regional Engines for Rolls-Royce, and will be accountable for civil engine programmes below 25,000 lbs thrust, including the company's portfolio of engines for business jets. Rolls-Royce is the world’s number one engine maker for business jets including the AE3007, BR700 and Tay series. The AE3007 powers more than 40 percent of the regional jet airline market, while the BR700 series engines are the most powerful, economic and environmentally friendly engines in their class.

Dr. Haidinger will retain his existing responsibilities as President of Rolls-Royce Deutschland and as a member of the Rolls-Royce Group Executive and will continue to be based in Dahlewitz, near Berlin.

  1. Rolls-Royce continues to invest in core technologies, products, people and capabilities with the objective of broadening and strengthening the product portfolio, improving efficiency and enhancing the environmental performance of its products. These investments create high barriers to entry.
  2. Research and development is carried out in facilities in the UK, Germany, US, Italy, Singapore, Japan and Scandinavia, with particularly strong relationships with the 29 universities where there are Rolls-Royce University Technology Centres.
  3. Annual sales were £7.4 billion in 2007, of which 55 per cent came from services revenues. The firm and announced order book is £45.9 billion, of which aftermarket services represent 30 per cent, providing visibility of future levels of activity.
  4. Rolls-Royce Deutschland has a workforce of around 3,000 divided between its two sites in Dahlewitz near Berlin and Oberursel near Frankfurt am Main. As the centre of excellence for two-shaft engines within the Rolls-Royce Group, the Dahlewitz site is responsible for the BR700, Tay, Spey, Dart and V2500 engine series.
  5. Michael Haidinger began his career in 1989 at DASA AG, Munich, as Head of Corporate Planning. In 1992 he was nominated Assistant to the CFO and subsequent to this function, he joined Fairchild Dornier as Division Manager for Offers and Contracts in 1995.
