Each year, at Rolls-Royce, we mark a variety of global inclusion and diversity events that give us the opportunity to talk about where we're making progress, and where we need to. It's one of the ways we're creating a more inclusive workplace that's better for our people and better for our business.
Today is International Women's Day, a global recognition of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. A day to challenge for change and help create a more gender equal workplace and world around us.
For us it's a chance to celebrate our female pioneers, colleagues, friends and loved ones, and ask: "what can I do to make Rolls-Royce more inclusive?"
Jacqui Sutton, Civil Aerospace Chief Customer Officer and Co-Chair of the Women in Aviation & Aerospace Charter explains: "Gender diversity is a one of our inclusion and diversity priorities as we aim to attract and develop more women across all areas of our business.
“We’ve made good progress over recent years such as developing a targeted inclusive hiring strategy to remove barriers and attract more diverse talent, and we’re already seeing results in our 2021 female graduate and intern applications and hires; but there’s more to be done if we’re going to become the business we need to be to pioneer in future.”
“That’s why events like International Women’s Day matter, they’re a reminder that we all have a part to play in creating a more inclusive place to work Warrren East, Rolls-Royce CEO added: "International Women’s Day is a great reminder for all of us to reflect on the importance of diverse teams and creating a truly inclusive work environment.
Traditionally male-dominated industries like those in which Rolls-Royce operates have made some progress, but there is still a long way to go. We all know that inclusive teams are better for people and better for business.
At Rolls-Royce we welcome the international call to action on accelerating gender equality and recognise it is up to all of us to help drive the changes that we want to see. As such, we are committed to growing the number of women in Rolls-Royce to 25% of our global workforce by 2025."
