Freight ready
Freighter operations have different priorities.
Payload capability, network flexibility and asset utilisation are central to taking advantage of a new generation freighter. Aircraft operate on different schedules and missions to passenger fleets.
However, different does not mean more demanding.
Today's A350-1000 fleet typically flies missions averaging around nine hours and as the worlds most utilised engine spends 14 hours in the air each day. Those operations combine substantial passenger payloads with significant fuel loads, creating some of the most demanding take-off and climb conditions in commercial aviation.
The A350F mission will be different, with typical stage lengths much shorter and with higher payloads. Yet the operational demand remains well within the performance envelope that the Trent XWB-97 already experiences every day.
The freighter mission is different. The engine challenge is not.
That means airlines can focus on capturing the opportunities a next-generation freighter capability unlocks.
