Accelerating progress on International Women’s Day 2024

This International Women’s Day we’re supporting the United Nations' 'Invest in women: Accelerate progress’ campaign.

While there is always more to do, we want to reflect the great work happening across Rolls-Royce to #InvestInWomen and #AccelerateProgress. So, we’re focusing on three key areas as we come together to celebrate, support, and accelerate women across the globe.

  • Professional development: Sharing best practice and tools to help women progress in their careers
  • Allyship: Making sure all our people understand how to be an ally to women at Rolls-Royce
  • Community: Helping to protect the health and livelihood of women across the globe

Investing in our women: Accelerating opportunities

Hear about Hayley’s journey from higher apprentice to Production Leader, to her latest role supporting our Chief People Officer, enabled by our female development programme, Thrive.

In partnership with Moving Ahead, the Thrive programme focuses on enabling women and includes internal mentoring, coaching and skill development workshops. 89 women across the Group participated in 2023 and 46% of participants were promoted, moved role or had their responsibilities expanded.

We’ve also recently announced how proud we are to have reached gender parity on our board and be included in the 2024 FTSE Women Leaders Review. This is significant progress at the top of Rolls-Royce, though we know we have more work to do to ensure greater gender balance across our organisation. Read the full report here.

Being an ally: Supporting women at work every day

Hear from some of our male allies across Rolls-Royce, committing to supporting, investing in, and accelerating women at work every day. They share what it takes to be a true ally, and what it means to them.

Supporting our communities

Hear from some of our team, including inclusion network members, who dedicate their time and resources throughout the year to support women in need, young women early in their careers and promote STEM careers to girls globally.

The communities we support are very important to us. We engage with local partners to help focus our action on activities that provide the greatest positive impact, from high quality STEM learning experiences, to sponsoring badges with Girlguiding in the UK, to our work with the Julian Centre in Indianapolis supporting victims of domestic violence, or to our Unnati initiatives in India which reach thousands of female students.
