The sixth in the generation of the engine family, the Trent XWB utilises cutting-edge design and technologies that gives it reliability, versatility and unique range capacity. It currently enables the A350 to fly the world’s longest commercial route.
Its unique three-shaft design, advanced materials and fan system technology all work together to create improved aerodynamics and fuel efficiencies of 15% over the original Trent engine, meaning it can go further with less.
Thanks to these advantages, the A350 was awarded a record-breaking 370 minutes Extended-range Twin-engine Operations Performance Standards (ETOPS) – indicating the distance an aircraft must be from an airport in case of engine failure mid-journey. This means the Trent XWB’s high reliability and performance today allow customer airlines to fly on more direct routes – saving them time, fuel and money.
