Rolls-Royce Launches Lunar Ambitions at Space Symposium

Rolls-Royce is exhibiting at the Space Symposium, Colorado for the first time, as its ramp up its dedication to ‘Providing the Power to Explore’ and leverages its extensive nuclear and aerospace pedigree.

As experts in innovation, with more than 60 years of expertise in nuclear power, Rolls-Royce launched the Micro-Reactor concept in 2021, with plans for a first of a kind space model ready by 2029. It is an ambitious and innovative project, with the company’s nuclear pedigree at the forefront.

With support from the UK Space Agency alongside other interested parties, Rolls-Royce is working to bring the Micro-Reactor technology to life, with a variety of power ranges and future application in terrestrial markets. The latest funding from the UK Space Agency of £2.8m means that the Micro-Reactor is closer to reality, as the team now work on developing demonstrators to prove the technology across a range of work packages.
