Sustained community contributions and increased STEM reach during 2019

Rolls-Royce are delighted to report a total STEM reach of 1.3 million people in 2019, which means we’ve exceeded our 2020 target with a year to go. Our success in 2019 will contribute towards our 2030 target of 25million people, meaning that we’re now 25% of the way there!

Measuring our STEM reach by 4 tiers allows us to focus on the quality of our STEM activities, with 60% of reported reach being active and involving a STEM interaction.

We are thankful to everyone that has given time, energy and enthusiasm to support our STEM programmes. They are the foundation of the great work we are doing globally, that excites people about STEM and, particularly, inspires and encourages young people to consider career in STEM. We count on their continued support as we work towards our2030 target. A handful of your STEM highlights can be found here.

Our STEM programmes make up the largest proportion of our charitable, social and community contributions. In 2019, we invested £6.96M with almost half of this – 95,870 hours – being in employee time. Although our overall contributions were slightly less than in 2018, there was an increase in the number of hours our employees spent supporting our communities.
