Rolls-Royce recently teamed up with The Diana Award in the UK to deliver an Anti-Bullying Ambassador Training Day for 120 students and 23 staff from 12 secondary schools near our Derby site. The day provided the knowledge and skills necessary to build a successful campaign in their school to tackle bullying, whether online or in person. This included understanding what bullying is, its impact on others and how – with support – to safely intervene in incidents.
Head of Community Investment & Education Outreach Paul Broadhead said, “last year we made a commitment to eradicate bullying, harassment and unfair discrimination of any kind, by any one, across our business. Of course, this issue isn’t unique to us and the impact of bullying, whether at work or at school, can be devastating. Working with The Diana Award gave us the opportunity to do something in support of local schools who want to change this. Just one day like this has the potential to change the lives of many for the better.”
The Diana Award charity supports the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better. With the support of HRH Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex, they aim to foster, develop and inspire positive change in the lives of young people. This is achieved through three programmes: The Diana Award awarding exceptional young people for selflessly creating and sustaining positive social change, mentoring which builds resilience and character of young people and the Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme.
