Imagine helping to solve some of the world’s toughest challenges and being part of a global team of 15,500 engineers – a team that’s as diverse as it is talented. All of them use their outstanding technical knowledge, determination and team working skills to create solutions they can be truly proud of.
This is your chance to join them. Initially, you’ll set your mind to developing an in-depth knowledge of a specific engineering discipline and a particular area of the business. Working on live projects, you’ll be exposed to the entire engineering lifecycle on a number of placements, so you’ll get to experience design and prototyping through to test. You’ll be solving problems, designing integrated systems and keeping an eye on customer requirements, deadlines and costs. You can look forward to a mix of on-the-job learning, training modules and project work. And, in addition to your attachments, you’ll be given the chance to do extra-curricular activities. These will help you to meet your individual development needs and to build your knowledge about the company and engineering. As you develop, you’ll find the challenges will increase in complexity and responsibility.
It’s an opportunity to play your own part in creating better solutions. In the Design phase, for example, you could contribute to conceptual designs that solve problems at a product, system or component level. At Make level, you might be scoping out opportunities to introduce new materials or updated specifications. And in Verify, there’s the opportunity to design, develop or operate test rigs.
Another key focus for you will be the Design and Make project, which will see you working with other graduates to own and deliver an improvement project that will have a positive impact on our customers.
From this foundation, you could choose to become a specialist, or you might want to broaden your skill base so you can develop leadership experience. Either way, there’s going to be an exciting career ahead of you.
