In the context of challenging trading conditions our overall performance for the year was in line with the expectations we set out in July 2015. It was a year of considerable change for Rolls-Royce: in our management, in some market conditions and in our near-term outlook. At the same time, there were some important constants: the underlying growth of our long-term markets, the quality of our mission critical technology and services, and strength of customer demand for these, which are reflected in our growing order book.

Rolls-Royce achieved a significant milestone for the Royal Navy’s new Type 26 Global Combat Ship programme today. At a ceremony in Bristol the company marked the completion of a successful factory acceptance test for the first MT30 Gas Turbine for the Type 26 Global Combat Ship in the presence of the Minister for Defence Procurement Philip Dunne MP, and representatives of prime contractor BAE Systems.

Rolls-Royce is today announcing plans to invest more than £30m at its site in Washington, Tyne & Wear, UK, creating a new facility to manufacture a range of aerospace discs for in-service engines. The new Fleet Support plant is expected to be fully operational in 2018 and will sit alongside our world-class UK discs manufacturing facility, which officially opened in June 2014.

The Norwegian ship owner Sølvtrans AS has declared an option for a second Live Fish Carrier vessel to be designed and equipped by Rolls-Royce. This will be the fourth vessel developed by Rolls-Royce for Sølvtrans, one of the world’s largest transporters of live fish.
