India’s Supply Chain Ecosystem

Vijay Aralikatti, Regional Supply Chain Manager, explains:

The growth in India’s Aerospace and Defence industry indicates that the country is rapidly building capabilities to emerge as a competitive destination to support the global aerospace and defence supply chain. India’s strong economic growth, favourable policies, cost advantages, robust talent pool and growing ecosystem, are all key drivers for growing supply chain activity.

At Rolls-Royce, we have global partnerships with a growing network of suppliers, who enable us to meet our customers' needs and support on-time delivery of our products at the right cost. Our sourcing activities began in India in 2005, through a partnership with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to supply ring forgings for V2500 engines. This evolved into our biggest partnership in India in the form of a joint venture - International Aerospace Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. (IAMPL). IAMPL is responsible for the manufacturing of parts used across a range of aero engines, including our Trent Family of engines.

Today, our supply chain activity in India has come a long way. We now work with a number of Indian companies, including Tata, Godrej & Boyce and Bharat Forge, to source new and complex commodities.

Through this growing supplier network, we are focused on creating a match between what India can offer and what is required by Rolls-Royce; ensuring customer satisfaction and developing the perfect partnership.
