Energy management systems

The system enables informed decision making by both crew and onshore teams and potentially assists customers in the reduction of energy usage, fuel consumption and operating costs. Energy Management 2.0 offers a greatly enhanced ability to improve the performance of an individual vessel or a fleet. The system provides details on fuel consumption and overall energy efficiency levels benchmarked against historical performance, allowing the crew to exploit opportunities to minimise fuel usage and reduce emissions.

Data is collected from the ship’s control system and a multitude of sensors on the vessel, logged at frequent intervals and processed in real time. Data sources include the engines, propulsion system, automation system, deck machinery and other equipment. Selected information is displayed graphically using a clear, focused and uncluttered design that draws the crew’s attention immediately to key elements.

The system provides vessel efficiency and performance information that enables the ship to comply with IMO and EU regulations (Marpol/ SEEMP/ EEOI/ MRV). It eases the regulatory process via automated logging of data and extraction for verification and reporting. The system is designed with future regulations and reporting in mind.

All programme updates

All the data collected is encrypted before being transmitted on to a Rolls-Royce-hosted web portal onshore, where more detailed analysis can be carried out. Our cloud based portal enables fleet managers and operators to compare actual performance data with historical benchmarks, as well as evaluating trending over chosen time periods.

Performance indicators and baseline analysis create potential for further improvement, and helps enable a data-driven performance management and decision-making approach across fleet management operations.

Rolls-Royce takes security very seriously, and uses state of the art encryption algorithms with strong keys. To reduce the band width utilisation, smart compression algorithms are used before transmitting the data to shore.

  • Allows customers to reduce energy usage, fuel consumption and operating costs
  • Helps improve crew awareness of their ship’s performance
  • Provides a valuable tool for comparing performance across the fleet
  • Supports regulatory compliance
  • Customisable Key Performance Indicators
  • Improves the performance of specific vessels through the propagation of best operating practices from historical data
  • Introduces healthy vessel-to-vessel benchmarking and competition
  • Highly customisable and can be configured to meet specific customer needs across a wide range of vessels

Services & Aftermarket Support

Automation systems

Tailored to the requirements of your vessel offering improved user interface & functionality.

Automation systems

Marine Services - automation and control system upgrades are tailored to the requirements of your vessel, allowing you to maximise your vessel’s productivity with features from our latest generation of integrated system design.

Our latest generation of integrated automation systems are designed to control and monitor ship operational systems in a robust, flexible, modern and reliable ship environment. These systems are available for sailing vessels through bespoke upgrade packages. Upgrades can be supplied as a complete integrated system or as separate systems, including alarm and monitoring, tank sounding, and pump and valve control, depending on the requirements of the vessel. Each solution is custom made to a vessel’s operating profile, with a graphical user interface displaying all necessary information to facilitate operation of the systems.

Customer Product Training

Offering blended teaching combining e-learning, simulator training and more.

Customer Product Training

Ensuring that your crew are properly and thoroughly trained will reduce operational risk and downtime plus maximise return on asset investment.

It also enables you to meet regulatory standards, improve crew safety and retain key personnel. In our state of the art training centres qualified and experienced trainers are able to provide your crew with practical training tailored to suit your products, systems and operational requirements. Our instructors can also train your crew on-board their vessel.

From hands on experience on full sized products in our training workshops, to experiencing real life scenarios in our virtual reality simulators all of our courses are designed to focus on safe and efficient operation and maintenance of your Rolls-Royce equipment.

Regional training centres:

  • Ålesund, Norway
  • Niteroi, Brazil
  • Singapore
E-learning

This type of solution is ideal for course preparation, where the participant is exposed to theoretical training for fundamental basic knowledge, with e-assessments throughout the module to assist in measuring the participants understanding of the basics.

Classroom

This type of solution is ideal for theoretical training, especially for larger groups. It goes through detailed systems overview including drawings and functionality.

Workshop/technical room

This type of solution is ideal for practical training with focus on maintenance and troubleshooting on actual products. This type of training used together with classroom training can provide a holistic view of complete systems.

Simulators

This type of solution is ideal for operator training where simulations of real life scenarios occurring at sea expose crew to dangerous situations in a controlled environment. They can be configured for systems or stand-alone operations like subsea, bridge, crane or winch operations.

  • DP simulator

Practice manoeuvring around an oil platform in all types of sea conditions. Learn from realistic situations using operator stations arranged as on the vessel.

  • Winch simulator

Enhanced with a winch remote control and monitoring system, the latest winch configurations helps crew practice and learn how to handle complex winch operations.

  • Seismic simulator

Realistic training on deploying the streamer cable and deflector. Simulating the operator’s tasks on the back deck of a seismic vessel, using the control system together with the radio remote.

Spares

We understand the importance of having the right parts, available in the right place, at the right time.

Spares

We understand the importance of having the right parts, available in the right place, at the right time. Working in close collaboration with our customers we have now developed a Spares Transformation Programme (STP) to further improve our customer response times.

This programme will streamline our operations to reduce lead-times, increase spares availability, and allow customers to track the status of their spares delivery in real-time.

To support the programme, we have opened a dedicated Marine Parts Service Centre (MPSC) to process spares quotations and orders centrally. This is underpinned by an improved logistics and IT infrastructure, which will enable us to deliver high-quality support to our customers, wherever they are in the world.
