We manufacture a range of diesel and gas reciprocating engines that serve both as propulsion units for vessels and electricity generation units on board ships and offshore installations.
These Bergen B and C series engines, which span the 1,400-8,000 kilowatt power range, are globally recognised for their superior performance, high reliability and cost-efficiency – and the latest-generation lean-burn gas engines are well ahead of their time environmentally.
Compared with diesel engines currently meeting the International Maritime Organisation’s ‘Tier 2’ regulations, Bergen gas engines deliver 23 per cent reduced carbon dioxide emissions and 92 per cent less oxides of nitrogen, while virtually eliminating sulphur oxide emissions and particulates. This impressive performance already meets ‘Tier 3’ regulations not due to come into force until 2016.
