The future

Stad Scotsman - 1975

From 1975 to 1976 a total of 19 UT-704 ships were delivered to Norwegian ship owners.

Stad Seaforth Shipping, part of the Farstad Group, took delivery of four such ships from the Ulstein Hatlø A/S shipyard in Ulsteinvik. A Finnish built ship, Skaustream, was the first UT 704 to go into operation offshore.

Skaustream was owned by the I.M. Skaugen line and was built at the Oy Laivarteolisuus shipyard, which built four such ships in the first year alone. Nevertheless it was the Stad Scotsman, built by Ulstein Hatlø for Stad Seaforth Shipping that was the first to be taken delivery of. In 1982 Stad Scotsman was re-registered to I/S Stad Platou, which was also controlled by the Norwegian ship owner Sverre Farstad. In 1986 the ship was renamed Far Scotsman. Two years later it was sold to Hughes Navigation Corp. of Kingston, St Vincent, and was given the name Red Condor.
