Our people

Rolls-Royce employs 40,000 people in more than 50 countries. Our growing order book and the continuing innovation of the Group’s products makes it imperative that we have a skilled workforce that is committed to delivering excellence to customers. To achieve this, we seek to create an inclusive working environment that attracts and retains the best people, enhances their flexibility, capability and motivation, and encourages them to be involved.

A key component of the Rolls-Royce business strategy is our People approach which is anchored around a number of key themes. These are:

Globalisation

  • Differentiating our brand in existing and emerging markets to win business and secure talented people who reflect the greater diversity of our people;
  • Building a global footprint which is cost effective, agile and resilient in tough environments and which enables us to work at pace;
  • Driving alignment of functions to business needs globally, and maturing the delivery capability of those functions;
  • Driving a High Performance Culture through effective, inspiring leadership, world class processes, and the development of a personally accountable workforce engaged in improving our business;

Standardisation

  • Wherever possible - and commercially sensible - simplifying and standardising our operating processes and approaches.

Health & Safety

  • Taking care of our working environment and work practices to ensure safe and healthy workplaces, where both physical and mental wellbeing are considered important.

Flexibility

  • Embedding behaviours and culture which support corporate goals and encourage our people to work across organisational boundaries;

Capability

  • Developing the capability of all our people, rewarding our best performers appropriately, nurturing and retaining our key people and ensuring we can deliver value-adding products on time and competitively.
