Trainee community projects
We support a number of longer term trainee community projects every year. Each project is developed with a customer who has identified a need that could not be met without our support. In total we annually contribute 10,000 hours of our employees' time.
Every new trainee from our graduate and second year apprentice pool chooses an activity as part of their professional development. As part of a team, they work with their customers to develop and deliver a project over nine to 12 months with support from someone in the business and the Community Investment team.
These activities provide a unique opportunity for them to develop a range of often 'hard to achieve' skills integral to the company's global competency framework. These include managing complete projects, dealing with ambiguity and developing a real focus on our customers.
