Community team building case study
Our people are encouraged to get involved in community activities as part of their development. It adds to their skills and experience as an individual or as part of a team.
In Canada we have a long term-relationship with Centraide. This is a charitable organisation that funds 360 agencies and projects in Montreal dedicated to helping vulnerable individuals and families.
Our support for Centraide is provided in the form of employee and corporate donations and employee time. In 2012 our total contribution was USD $329,000 and 240 employees gave a total of 830 hours to a range community projects. These included:
- Helping out at the city's food bank warehouses
- Lending support at hostels that provide food and shelter to young homeless people
- Helping to develop a community garden
- Preparing and serving meals at a community restaurant for people in need.
