Recognising Supplier Contribution - Rolls-Royce Supplier Awards programme

On 16 March 2011 Rolls-Royce hosted its third annual Supplier of the Year Awards dinner with our top strategic partners and suppliers in attendance. The awards recognise the contribution and commitment of the supply base to continuous improvement with a focus on performance.

Awards were made in the categories of:

  • Chief Procurement Office Award – awarded to a Supplier who demonstrated exemplary commitment to impacting positively on performance to the customer.
  • Supplier Best Practice Sharing Award - awarded to a supplier who is engaged in our Supplier Groups programme and has demonstrated outstanding commitment to sharing good practice across the supply chain for mutual benefit.

Since 2004, Kuehne + Nagel has worked in conjunction with Rolls-Royce to provide a full range of dedicated services supporting global supply chain requirements. A dedicated Kuehne + Nagel Global Account Team operates in-house within Rolls-Royce in the UK, Scandinavia, Germany, USA and Singapore, managing a full range of air, sea, overland and contract logistic services, plus tailor made solutions for the Aerospace, Marine, Energy sectors.

Energy – Spincraft
Spincraft is a supplier of complex assemblies and components to the energy, aerospace, aviation, marine and nuclear industries, offering world-class capabilities in metal spinning, flow forming, heat-treating, machining, welding, and fabrication for virtually all workable metal alloys. Its components and assemblies can be found in today’s most advanced space launch vehicles, commercial and military aircraft, naval nuclear propulsion systems and in situ gas turbines.

Continuous improvement is a defining characteristic of Spincraft, from its facility investment to focus on lean and flow principles to engaging with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in the UK to improve capability.

Marine - Marelli Motori
With over 120 years of manufacturing excellence and experience, Marelli Motori is recognised as a leading supplier to the marine, oil and gas, industrial and renewable power industries offering a complete range of standard and customised, low, medium and high voltage generators and motors.

Marelli Motori have been given this award in recognition of the company’s performance

Gas Turbine - Techjet Aerofoils Ltd
Techjet, based in Israel, is a world leader in the development and manufacture of compressor aerofoils, utilising state-of-the-art technology and automation. Techjet forges and machines titanium, nickel and steel blades for a wide range of Rolls-Royce civil aero engines from the large Trent engines to the smaller BR700 range.

Global Indirect - MITIE 
MITIE is a strategic outsourcing company, managing facilities, properties and assets. It provides Rolls-Royce with integrated facilities and energy management for its properties in the UK and across Europe. With revenues in excess of £1.7 billion, the company’s strategy is focused on being a sustainable, growing business.

Service - Sumitomo Precision Products
Located close to the city of Osaka in Japan, Sumitomo Precision Products provides excellence in the design, development and manufacturing of Heat Management System for aerospace engines and Heat Exchangers for Air Management Systems. SPP began working with Rolls-Royce on the IAE V2500 programme in 1988, going on to supply for the Trent family of engines and the BR710. Most recently, Sumitomo have become ‘Programme Associates’ for the Trent XWB.

This is the second award for Sumitomo, which won ‘Supplier of the Year’ last year.

Chief Procurement Officer Award winner

Metalex
The winner of last year’s Energy award, Metalex has continued in its winning ways. The leadership and culture embedded within Metalex inspires and drives its employees to consistently meet industry leading targets and hence the needs of Rolls-Royce as demonstrated by their business performance in 2010.

Supplier Best Practice Sharing Award winner

Pattonair
The Pattonair leadership continues to be a strong advocate of sharing best practice across the industry, expanding the concept by holding its own networking day. Their recent improvement project engaged the whole workforce and resulted in significant improvements to working practices. In turn this lead to significant improvements in quality, cost and delivery, and provided the platform for growth.
