We are developing new technologies in conjunction
with German technical institutes and are working on joint
definitions with airframers on concepts for the future.
We have two engine programmes in the pre-production phase,
four product lines in our Dahlewitz and Oberursel assembly
halls, which will see in the region of 480 engines delivered
to our customers this year, and we provide aftermarket support
for seven engine types.
It is even more positive that the growth in engine output
is not solely due to the engine projects being transferred
to Dahlewitz, across all engine types we are seeing increasing
demand from our customers.
To manage this growth we have had to increase the number
of employees, grow the infrastructure and change the way
we work. Employee count has increased to 2500 - an increase
of 35 per cent over 2003 numbers. We have added an additional
three office buildings and a warehouse to the Dahlewitz
site giving an additional 12,000 square metres of usable
space. We have had to reorganise the assembly hall and have
introduced a three shift-working pattern. 2006 turnover
will be close to double that of 2003.
