Rolls-Royce increases the pace of new product introduction
John Fitchett, Purchasing Director – NPI and Customer Interface

During 2006 Rolls-Royce witnessed the realisation of many key milestones across our new product portfolio. The first Trent 1000 ran successfully on time as part of the 17 month test programme, whilst the Rolls-Royce LiftSystem® and F136 engine for the JSF achieved significant milestones, gaining positive recognition from the US-based customers. In addition the TP400, the turboprop propulsion system for the A400M transport aircraft, passed a successful first engine and propeller testing in February 2006.

Success has in part been attributed to the increasingly collaborative approach that we are taking with our key suppliers during development programmes. The inaugural meeting of the JSF F136 Global Extended Enterprise Team took place in Indianapolis during October 2007, building on the success that this style of teaming has brought to the LiftSystem project.
