Singapore Airlines (SIA) is a key Rolls-Royce customer on a global scale. In late 1995, SIA placed the largest order in the company’s history for the supply of Trent 800 engines for its fleet of Airbus A340-500s and further Boeing 777 aircraft. More recently SIA selected the Trent 900 engines to power their new fleet of Airbus A380-800s. SIA’s entire fleet is powered by Trent engines – this includes 58 Boeing 777 variants, powered by the Trent 800, the Trent 500 operated on a fleet of five A340-500s and, of course, the 19 firmly ordered A380-800s. These engines, entering service on an on-going basis, are supported by a dedicated Rolls-Royce Field Service Office located at the Singapore Changi Airport.

Rolls-Royce has strong and long-standing business partnerships as well with BOC Aviation and SilkAir – the regional subsidiary of SIA and SIA Engineering Company.

BOC Aviation, an aircraft leasing company that provides lease and fleet financing solutions for the airline market, is a Rolls-Royce customer. The company owns seven widebody aircraft, three 777-200ERS and four of the larger 777-300s, all of which are powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 800 engines. In the single-aisle aircraft fleet, over 70 International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500s power the Airbus A319 and A320. IAE is a joint venture between Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, MTU and Japanese Aero Engine Corporation (JAEC).

SilkAir, the regional subsidiary of SIA operates A319 and A320 aircraft powered by the V2500 engine, as do Singapore low cost carriers, such as Tiger Airways and Jetstar Airways. Our V2500 engines are also on order to Singapore-based single-aisle customers, including BOC Aviation, SilkAir, Tiger Airways and JetStar Airways.
