Rolls-Royce highlights growing presence in Singapore and
Asia
Rolls-Royce is highlighting both its present and future
Asian and Singapore presence at the Singapore Airshow (February
19-24, Stand N23). The Trent aero engine family, which has
a leading presence in the Asian market, powers three Singapore
Airlines aircraft types in service and has been selected
for two more.
The Trent is represented on the Rolls-Royce stand at the
new Changi Exhibition Centre. There is also be information
about opportunities at the new Trent aero engine and assembly
facility to be built at the Seletar Industrial Park. The
facility, announced in November 2007, will be operational
by the first quarter of 2010 and will employ around 330
people.
Rolls-Royce employs more than 1,000 people locally, including
those in its joint ventures - Singapore Aero Engine Services
Ltd (SAESL) and International Engine Components Overhaul
(IECO).
Trent engines are in service with all the major Asian carriers
and are represented on the stand by the Trent 900 for the
Airbus A380, which entered airline service with Singapore
Airlines in October 2007, and the Trent 1000, which will
enter service with the Boeing 787s of All Nippon Airways.
The defence business of Rolls-Royce is demonstrating its
capability in engines for combat aircraft, trainers and
helicopters. The GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Engine Team F136
interchangeable engine for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike
Fighter; the Adour Mk951 for the BAE Systems Hawk, and the
RTM322 for the NH90 and EH101 helicopters are featured on
the stand.
Jonathan Asherson, Rolls-Royce regional director for Singapore,
said: "We are growing rapidly in Asia, and Singapore
is a key business hub for the Group. We are working closely
with key partners such as the Singapore Economic Development
Board and Singapore Airlines to demonstrate our continuing
commitment." |
