Remote in-bundle inspection 

Fouling, corrosion, foreign objects and various other anomalous conditions can greatly affect steam generator performance.

To combat these risks and help reduce component degradation or possibly even forced shutdown, Rolls-Royce utilizes the exclusive REPTIL remote in-bundle inspection system to penetrate the in-bundle region of triangular and square pitched steam generators.

The development of REPTIL has added yet another  remotely operated, dose saving option for the inspection of steam generators. Additionally various types of specialized retrieval tooling can be used in conjunction with the REPTIL  system to perform foreign object retrievals.

Upper bundle in-bundle inspection

Developed by Rolls-Royce, the Upper Bundle In-Bundle Inspection System (UBIB) allows access to the in bundle region of upper support plate levels of a steam generator. It provides valuable information on tube support plate fouling and cracking. It also gives information on in-bundle deposit accumulation that can cause blockages of the upper bundle quatrefoils, tri foils and flow holes. This adversely affects steam generator performance.

This additional information is a major advancement in the total assessment of a steam generator’s overall condition. It is an exclusive capability available only to Rolls-Royce customers.

J-nozzle inspection

Nuclear facilities across the world have encountered erosion and corrosion of steam generator J-Nozzle and feedwater areas. Utilizing the Brooks J-Nozzle inspection tool Rolls-Royce offers industry exclusive inspection capabilities that provide a full 360 degree, visually encoded view of the J-Nozzle weld to determine J-Nozzle conditions and assist in the trending of system conditions and the planning of more efficient maintenance activities.

With access through the J-nozzle we are also capable of inspecting:

Remote annulus inspection

We perform remote annulus inspections utilising the exclusive SWATS PT (Shell to Wrapper Annulus Transport System Pan and Tilt). Developed by Rolls-Royce, this revolutionary inspection technology utilises a magnetic delivery system. This system can perform a 100 per cent remote visual inspection of the downcomer annulus region, on the secondary side of steam generators.

The SWATS PT system also accommodates an inspection of both the tubesheet and upper/lower wrapper support structures. This is in the downcomer annulus region, in both horizontal and vertical directions.
