Architect engineer service
Rolls-Royce provides Architect Engineer (AE) Service to nuclear power stations and is currently a Prime AE for several nuclear stations. As an Engineer of Choice at these power stations, Rolls-Royce is able to provide a wide array of engineering services for projects of all sizes.
Rolls-Royce maintains a NUPIC approved 10CFR50 Appendix B Quality Assurance Program for engineering services and software development.
Rolls-Royce supports both fixed price and time & material engineering projects for all engineering disciplines in the nuclear industry. Roll-Royce also provides short-term staff augmentation.

Safety case engineering
The operation of a civil nuclear facility is subject to regulation under the conditions of a licence or permit. The Licence Holder has a legal responsibility to demonstrate nuclear safety throughout the life-cycle of the facility (i.e. design, build, commissioning, operation, decommissioning etc). The accepted methodology for demonstrating nuclear safety is the development and continued maintenance of Safety Cases.
Rolls-Royce Safety Case Engineers are SQEP qualified and experienced in the preparation of Safety Cases at all stages in the life-cycle of a facility, including supporting new build licensing. Once a facility is operational, Rolls-Royce can provide the support to maintain a Safety Case to reflect ongoing operations and modifications; and can undertake Periodic Safety Case reviews.
In line with regulatory expectations, Rolls-Royce Engineers produce Safety Cases that are fit for purpose. Typically, this utilises a “claims-arguments evidence” approach, with emphasis on good engineering/deterministic assessments to demonstrate the safety of the plant and probabilistic safety assessments (PSA) to provide confirmation.
Regardless of which life-cycle stage it supports, a Safety Case remains the responsibility of the Licence Holder. Rolls-Royce recognises this and will seek to ensure the full involvement of the Licence Holder in the Safety Case engineering process.
