Mentor Protégé Program (MPP)
- assists small businesses (Protégés) to successfully compete for prime contract and subcontract awards by partnering with large companies (Mentors) under individual, project-based agreements. The projects consist of mutually agreed development of the protégé by the mentor firm. The MPP is managed by the DoD’s Office of Small Business Programs.
The DoD recognizes outstanding MPP teams annually with the prestigious Nunn-Perry Award. In 2008, Rolls-Royce was the proud recipient of this award for two MPP initiatives. The first initiative was with Manzi Metals
Inc., a women-owned, small disadvantaged business distributor of metals located in Brooksville, FL. Additionally, Rolls-Royce was recognised for the MPP initiative with California Amforge Corporation
a women owned small business forger located in Azusa, California.
Rolls-Royce has a robust process for supporting small businesses working on Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contracts with a variety of Government agencies. We have developed a formal approach to identify the most promising technologies that emerge from these contacts with the aim to transition them to tools or products in service.
