As a leading global employer of engineers, Rolls-Royce has a long history of supporting engineering education around the world.
Rolls-Royce has pledged $120,000 to establish a new, multi-year engineering scholarship program at Clemson. The Rolls-Royce Scholarship Program is designed to support undergraduate engineering education and will fund undergraduate scholarships for qualified students majoring in four-year engineering programs.
After years of working together informally, Rolls-Royce and Purdue University formalized their association in 1999 with a Memorandum of Understanding supported by a Master Sponsored Research Agreement. In 2003 the organizations worked together to acquire funding to establish a new University Technology Center at Purdue and in the same year Rolls-Royce committed to a $250,000 sponsorship to support the construction of the Millennium Engineering Center. In 2005 Rolls-Royce and Purdue co-founded the Indiana Advanced Aerospace Manufacturing Alliance. To date, more than 45 companies in Indiana have joined generating results in the form of new business opportunities.
The new Crosspointe Centre campus, that will manufacture aerospace products, will also house the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing. This center will be a unique workforce training and development partnership between Rolls-Royce, the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.
