Wounded and recovering U.S. Marines honored during Football Championship in Indianapolis
Through the USO and the Marine Foundation of Indiana, Rolls-Royce North America sponsored a Football Championship pre-game “tailgate” party on February 5, 2012 in Indianapolis for over 40 wounded and recovering United States Marines.
National Merit Scholarship
In 2004, Rolls-Royce partnered with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to award scholarships to children of employees who qualify as finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Fifteen scholarships have been awarded since the program’s inception, with five being awarded in 2008, the most in a single year thus far. National Merit Scholars demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, abilities and accomplishments.
United Way
Rolls-Royce and its employees across the nation participate with the United Way, a national network of organizations that work to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. Annually Rolls-Royce donates over $300,000 to the United Way!
Centraide
Each year Rolls-Royce Canada Limited holds a month long fundraising campaign to support Centraide, the United Way of Canada. Employees are invited to participate in fundraising activities to include payroll deductions, raffles and “Centraide Dish of the Day” lunches. Annually the campaign raises over $140,000!
As a leading global employer of engineers, Rolls-Royce has a long history of supporting engineering education around the world.
Clemson University
Rolls-Royce has pledged $120,000 to establish a new, multi-year engineering scholarship program at Clemson. The Rolls-Royce Scholarship Program is designed to support undergraduate engineering education and will fund undergraduate scholarships for qualified students majoring in four-year engineering programs.
Purdue University
After years of working together informally, Rolls-Royce and Purdue University formalized their association in 1999 with a Memorandum of Understanding supported by a Master Sponsored Research Agreement. In 2003 the organizations worked together to acquire funding to establish a new University Technology Center at Purdue and in the same year Rolls-Royce committed to a $250,000 sponsorship to support the construction of the Millennium Engineering Center. In 2005 Rolls-Royce and Purdue co-founded the Indiana Advanced Aerospace Manufacturing Alliance. To date, more than 45 companies in Indiana have joined generating results in the form of new business opportunities.
The University of Virginia & Virginia Tech
The new Crosspointe Centre campus, that will manufacture aerospace products, will also house the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing. This center will be a unique workforce training and development partnership between Rolls-Royce, the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Our commitment to excellence doesn’t end with our products. As a good corporate citizen Rolls-Royce supports education, social regeneration and art projects in North America.
National Air and Space Museum
In 2007, Rolls-Royce pledged $2 million to support continual development of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum. To recognize the company’s investment, the Welcome Center at the Museum’s flagship building on the National Mall will be known as the “Welcome Center sponsored by Rolls-Royce.”
Purdue University
In 2004 Rolls-Royce committed to a $250,000 sponsorship to support the construction of the new Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering at Purdue University. The center will house the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the School of Materials Engineering, the Department of Freshman Engineering, the Division of Interdisciplinary Engineering and Engineering Projects in Community Service.
United States Marine Corps Heritage Foundation
In 2005 Rolls-Royce pledge $250,000 to the USMC Heritage Foundation. The foundation, established in 1979, is a private, non-profit organization that supports historical programs for the Marine Corps. Programs include: education, awards, publications, special projects and preservation. In 1999 the foundation expanded its mission to include the creation of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, located in Quantico, VA.
United States Air Force Museum Foundation
In 2005, Rolls-Royce committed to a $250,000 donation to the USAF Museum Foundation. The Foundation assists in the development and expansion of the National Museum of the United States Air Force, located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The Foundation receives, holds and administers gifts in the best interest of the museum.
