Rolls-Royce appoints non-executive director

Rolls-Royce Group plc today announced the appointment today of Dr John McAdam as a non-executive director.
Announcing the appointment, Rolls-Royce Chairman Simon Robertson said: “I am delighted to welcome John McAdam as a non-executive director of Rolls-Royce. John has extensive international and industrial experience gained over many years which will be particularly valuable to Rolls-Royce”.
John McAdam was the Chief Executive of ICI plc until ICI’s recent acquisition by Akzo Nobel. He is a non-executive director of J Sainsbury Plc and is a non-executive director, and Chairman designate, of United Utilities PLC and a member of the University of Cambridge Chemistry Advisory Board.
After studying at Manchester University, where he was awarded a first class honours degree in Chemical Physics and subsequently a PhD, John McAdam joined Unilever where he held a number of senior management positions. Following ICI’s acquisition of Unilever’s Speciality Chemical Companies, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive of ICI Paints and elected to the Board of ICI plc and was subsequently appointed as its Chief Executive in 2003, a position that he held up to ICI’s recent acquisition by Akzo Nobel.
John McAdam was a non-executive director of Severn Trent Plc between 2000 until 2005 and was a member of the University of Surrey Business Advisory Board.
There are no other details to disclose under paragraph 9.6.13 (1) to (6) of the Listing Rules in relation to John McAdam.
