Marine

  • Rolls-Royce Marine Middle East was established in 2003. In 2004 field service was established and in June 2009 workshop facility was established at Oilfields Supply Centre facilities. There are currently 25 personnel employed in the office covering new equipment sales, service support and administrative activities and managed by managed by General Manager Ravi K
  • Equipment orders with a value of £150 million have been secured in the region during the period 2004 - 2008.
  • Key customers include Abu Dhabi Ship Builders (ADSB), ADNOC / ESNAAD, DPA, Lamnalco, Drydocks World, Zamil, RTA (Road Transport Authority Dubai) the UAE Navy and UAE Coast Guard
  • Our installed base in the region continues to grow and we are enhancing the competence and capability to provide service and maintenance to our customers
  • Waterjet support centre agreement with ADSB has been signed and is being executed.

Current activities

UAE

Dubai is a hub for Middle East private owners with substantial fleet with Swire, Topaz Energy ( BUE Marine, Nico & DMS), Seaways, Gulmar Offshore Gulf Energy Maritime, Vela International, UASC, ETA Shipping and Mideast Ship management.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company manages the marine demand through three operating subsidiaries ESNAAD for Offshore support, IRSHAD for Terminal operations and ADNATCO/ NGSCO for tankers, gas carriers and other merchant vessels.

Rolls-Royce has a contract for 5 UT vessels of which 2 vessels have been delivered and in operations. IRSHAD has ordered four Tugs from Turkey with RR Azimuth Thrusters for main Propulsion. The Merchant Fleet with ADNATCO/ NGSCO has various equipment such tunnel thrusters, gearbox, CPP, Deck machinery and Steering gears.

Abu Dhabi Government is preparing surface Transport Master Plan (STMP) and expects to launch a build program for ferries and water taxis very soon.

Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) is building six 72m Baynunah Class corvettes powered by Kamewa waterjets for the UAE Navy. It has previously supplied 12 Ghannatha Fast Patrol Boats and four Fast Supply Vessels for the UAE Navy and UAE Coast Guard, all with Kamewa waterjets.

In February 2009, ADSB announced a new contract to build 12 new fast fighting boats for the UAE Navy using Rolls-Royce waterjets.

RTA Dubai has embarked on plans to set-up water transport in Dubai and Northern emirates supported by Rolls-Royce Marine as key propulsion supplier. RRM has secured order for the pilot project of 10 boats. RTA has further floated global tender for larger ferries.

Saudi Arabia

Key customers include Zamil Operations & Maintenance Co. Ltd., Bakri Navigation, NSCSA, National Chemical Carrier, Atco Marine, Saudi Aramco, Hadi Al Hamman Est. Marine Services, KSA Navy & Coast Guard.

Zamil has been a key customer for marine. Rolls-Royce established the business relationship with Zamil in 2003 with orders for 5 Harbour Tug thrusters which were followed by a series of 10 AHTS diesel electric propulsion systems in 2004.

Zamil is currently building 7 UT 733 AHTS vessels and 2 Harbour service tugs equipped with Rolls-Royce azimuth thrusters. Four UT 733 vessels were delivered earlier this year.

Rolls-Royce Marine is currently engaged with Zamil for ship lifting system.

RR Kamewa won an order for water jets for the 13 fast patrol boats for the Saudi Special Forces. First vessel has been successfully commissioned in June, 2009.

Oman

Government of Oman has taken delivery for two 65m ferries from Austal and expecting delivery for three 45m ferries from Rodriguez.

The Royal Navy of Oman will have three offshore patrol vessels with Rolls-Royce controllable pitch propellers, gensets, switchgear and steering gear (Project Khareef) for which deliveries are under way.

USMI and Austal Fast Patrol Boats has been delivered to the Omani Coast guard are and are operating with Rolls-Royce Kamewa water jets.

Oman

Government of Oman has taken delivery for two 65m ferries from Austal and expecting delivery for three 45m ferries from Rodriguez.

Kuwait

Rolls-Royce has recently secured Deck Machinery order for four VLCC for Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) strengthening and increasing RRM share with the key customer.

Kuwait Oil Company has launched program for expansion of terminal which involves expansion/ renewal of fleet of tugs, crew boats, mooring boats and pilot boats and in addition civil infrastructure that involves new ship lift / repair dock.

Qatar

Nakilat/ Qatar gas/ Qatar Shipping – RRM has secured Deck Machinery for Gas carriers and tankers – 57 vessels.

Rolls-Royce has propulsion and motion control products on offshore fleet with Halul Offshore & FMS working for Qatar Petroleum.

Egypt

RRM has currently secured orders for Azimuth Thrusters for Suez Canal Authority (SCA). Four 70T ASD Tugs will be Build in Turkey at Uzmar Yard. Further options will be built in SCA yard. In additional RRM and Suez Canal Authority is developing design and system specification to build 160T Salvage Tug.
