Rolls-Royce wins new AE 3007 engine business with Aerolitoral
07 January 2004

CHANTILLY, VA. -- Rolls-Royce has received new AE 3007 engine business for five Embraer ERJ 145 regional jets to be operated by Mexico's Aerolitoral. In addition, the engines will be covered under a Rolls-Royce TotalCareTM maintenance agreement.

Aerolitoral CEO Raul Saenz said: "We are pleased to be the first airline in Mexico to operate regional jets. The ERJ 145, powered by Rolls-Royce engines, will allow us to serve existing markets more efficiently, along with helping explore new opportunities."

David Whetton, Executive Vice President - Airlines Americas Rolls-Royce, said: "Today's announcement reflects the strong market acceptance of Embraer's 37-50 seat regional jets powered by our highly reliable AE 3007 turbofan. Our customers benefit from the excellent operating economics and unmatched flexibility, a combination that has led to the deserved popularity of this program."

Delivery of the first ERJ is scheduled for March 2004. Aerolitoral has signed a 12-year TotalCare agreement with Rolls-Royce that covers maintenance and support of the airline's AE 3007 turbofans. TotalCare provides customers with predictable engine maintenance costs as Rolls-Royce assumes full responsibility for the maintenance of the engine in return for a fee per flying hour. The program reduces airline operating costs and administrative burden and allows airlines to focus on their core business.

TotalCare, which provides services to Rolls-Royce airline customers around the world, has achieved the following milestones:

  • Selected by 61% of Trent operators;
  • Selected by 90% of regional operators;
  • 2800 engines managed under TotalCare; and
  • TotalCare customers come from all sectors of the airline industry and areas of the world
