The advanced waterjet AWJ-21™ is an underwater
discharge waterjet designed to reduce ship signatures
and at the same time deliver high efficiencies. Its
layout also enables the designer to eliminate rudder
and waterbourne shafting. Units are protected from grounding
by the pump nacelle.

Features and benefits
- Greatly improved cavitation characteristics
- High efficiency over broad operating range
- Shock hardened component design
- Single hull penetration for steering and reversing
system
- Drive-train flexibility
Testing in the US Navy's 40 metre AESD will optimise
and validate AWJ-21 pump performance and to determine
power, manoeuvring, hydrodynamic and hydro-acoustic
performance. It is expected to provide a stealthy, more
compact propulsion system with reduced weight and volume.
Ideal for operating in shallow waters.
