Bulkhead sealing gland

Bulkhead sealing glands

Michell® bulkhead sealing glands follow a standard design, the principle of which is to provide controlled leakage, where the propeller shaft passes through the bulkhead in the event of operating under flooded compartment conditions.

Features and benefits

  • Spherical seating of the sealing gland accommodates angular shaft movement up to 10° and radial movement of up to 40mm.
  • Each gland is sized specifically for each application.
  • Gland can withstand over 10m head of water.
  • Gland does not require manual activation in the event of a flooded compartment condition.
