MT30

The MT30 has been developed to meet the growing demand for higher powers in the 34-40MW range, with outstanding thermal efficiency while at the same time driving down operating and ownership costs.

The MT30 is offered as a self-contained package for naval (left) and commercial vessels (right).

Features and benefits:

  • Delivers 36MW at 38°C
  • Excellent performance retention - full power through life
  • 80 per cent commonality with aero Trent for high reliability and low ownership costs
  • Compact, self-contained, single lift package
  • Greater than 40 per cent thermal efficiency
  • Modular design for simplified maintenance

Compact and lightweight, the MT30 gas generator and power turbine unit together weigh just over 6 tonnes and is made up of seven major modules.

The engine is American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) certified to give a maximum continuous rating of 36MW up to ambient temperatures of 37.8°C and 40MW at 15°C.

It delivers a thermal efficiency exceeding 40 per cent at rated power and maintains high efficiency throughout the top 30 per cent of its power range. This enables powers lower than 36MW to be efficiently addressed. Its innovative package design is only 8.6m long.
