Rolls-Royce MT30 completes DNV Type Test Marine

Walpole, MA - The Rolls-Royce MT30 marine gas turbine engine has completed the DNV (Det Norske Veritas) Type Test required to certify the engine at 36MW to DNV's rules for classification of High Speed, Light Craft and Naval Surface Vessels. This test was completed on schedule and represents a significant milestone in the certification sequence of the MT30.

Houston, TX - Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine today helped christen the M/V Fairweather, the largest high-speed ferry built in the United States. The vessel is equipped with Rolls-Royce Kamewa Waterjets and was built by Derecktor Shipyard.

The jets will propel the 700-passenger and cargo-carrying Techno-Superliner between Tokyo and the Ogasawara Islands, 1,000km south, at 38 knots, cutting the journey time by ten hours to just 16 hours.
