To meet the changing emphasis in military support requirements,
the deployment of rapid response forces to distant areas
at short notice, a vessel with the rare combination
of long range and high speed with a relatively high
payload is required.
The smaller 1,100dwt Intra-Theatre Logistic vessel uses
a similar hull form
Rolls-Royce has developed a family of fast naval logistic
ships based on the commercial P2500 fast cargo hull
form. The largest is a 4,000dwt monohull, 177m long,
with a range of 3,000 nautical miles capable of transporting
2,500 tonnes of cargo at 40 knots.
