| New hydraulic spooling device 22 May 2006 Rolls-Royce has developed a new hydraulic spooling device, with a BRH64 drive system, as an alternative to conventional high pressure drives. The first unit was commissioned on Solstad’s construction vessel Normand Installer. Larger anchor handling vessels of this type require winches with increased capacity, and the new spooling device is intended to help meet this need. Based on the same low-pressure system as used on the winches, the new unit is expected to simplify the whole system and address some of the operational challenges faced onboard such ships. The spooling device developed by Rolls-Royce has been successfully tested in full scale trials at the company's facilities in Brattvag, Norway. |
