the features of the new mini simulator
developed for Rolls-Royce

Rolls Royce is working on a number of offshore support vessel new build projects where the design has been tailored specifically to meet the requirements of individual customers. UT-Design manager, Sven Kleven, says, "One of our strengths is our ability to produce 'horses for courses'. We have at the moment several vessels on order which illustrate our ability to create solutions to particular customer needs especially well".

The crew of a new UT 712 L vessel being built for Olympic Shipping at Aker Yards’ Soviknes shipyard will be the first to benefit from a new mini-simulator, developed on behalf of Rolls-Royce by the Offshore Simulator Centre (OSC) in Ålesund, Norway.

The simulator is intended for use by the crew of vessels that feature a newly developed offshore anchor handling crane as a part of their deck operations system, and is designed to enhance crew performance.

The mini simulator can be placed on board such vessels, in recreational areas for example, and will be programmed with realistic operational scenarios. The person operating the crane will receive scores depending on how well each operation is completed.
