Rolls-Royce works closely with PETRONAS, one of the largest energy companies in Malaysia. Rolls-Royce gas turbine equipment has been chosen to power many offshore oil and gas production platforms in Malaysia to meet the country’s growing energy needs. This includes a large number of RB211 and Avon gas compressor systems, as well as 501 power generation sets for a variety of customers namely PETRONAS Carigali, ExxonMobil, Nippon Oil, Shell, Carigali-Hess and Talisman.

The 2007 signing of a Global Frame Agreement between PETRONAS and Rolls-Royce Energy, and an Aftermarket Agreement between PETRONAS and OTEC Kemajuan, will further strengthen the relationship Rolls-Royce enjoys with both these companies, in addition to bolstering the overall oil and gas sector. As part of these agreements, Rolls-Royce and OTEC Kemajuan have set up 2 local Joint Ventures, Advance Gas Turbine Solutions Sdn. Bhd. and Rolls Wood OTEC, to deliver higher than ever standard of service in its partnership with PETRONAS. These Joint Ventures will serve to develop local gas turbine equipment competencies and help to further cement Malaysia as the Regional Oil and Gas hub.

With the growing energy needs and further deepwater oil finds in Malaysia, Rolls-Royce looks forward to powering the country’s oil and gas industry into the future.
