The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) is a key Rolls-Royce customer, with over 100 Rolls-Royce engines in service. It operates a fleet of Adour Mk871-powered Hawk aircraft and, with flying hours approaching 45,000, is one of the most experienced Hawk operators in the world. It also operates the Aermacchi MB339 trainer aircraft powered by the Viper engine and the VVIP Global Express powered by the BR710.

Military transport leader

Rolls-Royce, the world leader in engines for military transport aircraft, powers the transport squadron of the RMAF, which currently operates a fleet of 14 T56 powered C-130H aircraft, some equipped with inflight refuelling capabilities.

In 2005 the Malaysian government announced the purchase of four Airbus A400M military transport aircraft, powered by the TP400-D6 engine. Rolls-Royce is one of four partners of Europrop International, which is developing the TP400-D6.

The first TP400-D6 engine was tested in October 2005 and delivery of the four engines to power the first flight of the A400M was completed in March 2008. The first A400M rolled out in Seville, Spain, on 26 June 2008.

Naval

The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) was the first defence force to take delivery of the new Super Lynx 300 helicopter in 2003, powered by the T800 engine from the LHTEC joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Honeywell. The RMN now operates six of the highly sophisticated Super Lynx helicopters at sea from its two frigates, the KD Jebat and KD Lekiu.
