Rolls-Royce in the community

Participants of the Rolls-Royce community sailing programme 2009

Rolls-Royce is committed to enhancing local service Together with OTEC Kemajuan and PETRONAS, Rolls-Royce has developed the Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP).

Through INSTEP, Rolls-Royce has developed a turbomachinery technology skills transfer programme with the objectives of providing training locally, and upgrading the skills of PETRONAS engineers and technicians.

Rolls-Royce also supports educational initiatives by participating in the British Malaysia Institute, and sponsoring both the Chevening MBA programme and British Council's British Overseas Industrial Placement (BOND) scheme.

Rolls-Royce also funds a sailing programme for under-privileged children in the Port Klang area. The Rolls-Royce Community Sailing Programme (RRCSP), hosted by the Royal Selangor Yacht Club, first took place in 2008 and teaches local children sailing skills, which they would not otherwise have the opportunity to learn.

More importantly, the programme imbues the children with confidence, and encourages the building of teamwork and social skills, while supporting an interest in basic maritime engineering.
